helping working moms make it work
hello, my name is alison
helping working moms make it work
helping working moms make it work
I am a mom to four kids under five, navigating a two-working-parent household while juggling a high profile, fast paced corporate career.
I got my start in management consulting and an MBA at Harvard Business School, but even that did not fully prepare me for the challenges of working motherhood.
Through a global pandemic and the demands of several high profile roles at a global financial institution, I had four kids (and recently, a puppy) — and while somewhat unbelievable (even at times to me), I have found a way to make it work.
How do you do it?, people often ask me.
My answer is the making it work mom: a space to share the lessons I have gathered climbing the corporate ladder with my toddlers in tow — and the collective lessons of the incredible working moms who’ve supported me along the way.
If you’re on a journey to make it work (or support those who are) then stick around.
what is the making it work mom
-
to support working mothers who, like me, want to fulfill their personal and professional ambitions
to provide tips and tricks to make working mom life easier
to free up some time for working moms to spend as they wish
to give working moms the tools, community and support they need to make it work
to provide space to laugh at the wild and crazy, real-life circus act we call being a working mom
-
career ambitions & motherhood
time, energy, and mental load management
setting boundaries without guilt
making space for identity outside of motherhood
systems, routines, and tools that make working mom life workable, not perfect
splitting and outsourcing household responsibilities
honest conversations about tradeoffs
-
not a guide to being the perfect working mom — just practical advice (and space for a good laugh)
not another generic parenting blog — you won’t find recycled advice here
no shame, “shoulds” or impossible standards
no curated highlights reel or theory — just real, lived experience
not about doing it all — it’s about doing what matters, dropping what doesn’t, and making it work
